Supporting the Local Skills Agenda

Business Southampton supports the skills agenda and believes it is crucial to the economic growth of the city. Working with City Champions and other partners, Business Southampton is supporting the skills agenda for the Southampton city region. People in Southampton and its surrounding region have a wealth of expertise, skills and qualifications that are proving to be extremely beneficial to organisations in the region. Business Southampton is working with a number of organisations to develop and utilise these skills and qualifications for the future benefit of the Southampton City Region.

 

A number of City Champions in the education sector are keen to support the work of Business Southampton and help with further development and bringing together of the wealth of expertise, skills and qualifications with local businesses for the maximum benefit of the region. Business Southampton is in support of a number of initiatives including the Adopt a School Programme with Solent Skill Quest, Graduate Jobs South and Growing Ambitions which all aim to further develop skills and education and link it with businesses in the region. In addition, Business Southampton is involved with the following:

• Promoting ‘Train to Gain’ initiatives to City Champions
• Representation on Southampton Skills & Employability Board
