Solent Maritime Integration Project
Introduction
The Solent Maritime Integration Project is an exciting project to engage businesses and enterprises in the Solent in developing and building a supply chain map. The supply chain map will become the basis to facilitate economic improvements for the Solent Maritime area collectively whilst also working with individual supply chains and individual businesses.
Project Benefits
Like many corporate strategies the benefits that accrue from the project will emerge over time as the survey results are produced. The potential benefits that emerge at a Solent and individual level are anticipated to be:
1. The identification of the Solent Maritime industry,
2. Identification of relationships between businesses working with the Solent,
3. Key players in the Solent Maritime sector from both a buy and supply perspective,
4. Formal recognition of the Maritime industry and its importance to the the commercial success and well being of the Solent and surrounding areas,
5. It will provide a basis to identify opportunities regionally, within Europe and internationally,
6. Provide the first step of a joined up approach and focussed commercial voice for Solent businesses and organisations,
7. Provide the basis for a directory of Solent businesses and organisations and provide opportunities to provide business development support to corporate and SME alike.
Organisations will be asked to complete a simple on-line survey. Each company will be classified into one of six main categories (or verticals) of Shipping, Ports, Regulation, MOD, Services and Leisure which are the basis of building the supply chain map. Each main category will also be broken down into a number of sub-categories so that a comprehensive coverage can be achieved of all the activities within the Solent Marine area.
Any business or organisation of whatever size in the Solent Region that considers they have some involvement in the Maritime sector by direct activity or by supplying or buying from others who are in the sector, can be on the map.
